True Humility vs. False Humility

Updated: Jul 17, 2018

No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8)

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.

Sometimes I look back at my life and am overwhelmed with the decisions I made that caused those that cared about me so much heartache. But the funny thing is my thoughts were about me and not them. That's pride or false humility.

False humility is the worldly counterfeit of genuine modesty and grace.

If I had really thought of my family I would have made decisions that impacted them positively instead of negatively.

I thank God by His grace that I was able to change my thinking which changed my actions which changed my relationship with God and family.

Signs of  true humility are:

1. Service to others 2. Thinking of yourself less 3. Recognize who God really is

On the other hand, false humility is:

1. Being Preoccupied with self 2. Listens not to hear but to answer 3. Professes a love for God but don’t have actios thatmatch up

Being humble is not something you just do,  it's who you are.
